Type Locality and Naming

Along the Aksu stream, between the Kafirnigan and Vakhsh rivers. Yu.N. Andreyev, 1966 (366, p. 44). Stratotype along the Aksu stream, Daganakiik ridge. Included in the Kaligrek Horizon (55; 191; 362; 452).

Synonym: Aksuy Formation, Аксуйская св., Aksuy Fm


Lithology and Thickness

Clays, siltstone (aleurolites) reddish-brown, spotted sandstones with gravelite interlayers. Thickness 78-110m.

Lower contact

Lies with erosion on the Okuzbulak Fm

Upper contact

Overlain with erosion by the Karakuz suite.

Regional extent

South and central Gissar, Babatag ridge. Corresponds to the Kaligrek Fm and Gelandaryin Fm.
